

Managing Director, Imperial Capital
Jim D’Aquila is Managing Director at Imperial Capital, a full-service investment bank offering institutional sales and trading, a wide range of investment banking, capital markets, restructuring services, and institutional research. Jim’s primary specialty is in the Consumer sector. With six offices across the United States, Imperial Capital’s institutional sales and trading professionals service over 1,200 institutional accounts and its investment banking professionals provide advisory services to middle market corporations and private equity funds. In 2009, Imperial Capital acquired The Mercanti Group, a mergers and acquisitions and capital markets advisory firm founded by Jim. Jim is an industry veteran with nearly thirty years of investment and merchant banking experience with Credit Suisse First Boston, Donaldson, Lufkin and Jenrette, Dain Rauscher, Drexel Burnham and E.F. Hutton.
Jim grew up in Hibbing, Minnesota and is a graduate of Hibbing High School. He received his BBA from Notre Dame with high honors and has lived in New York, Los Angeles and Minneapolis. Throughout his life, Jim has kept very close ties to Northern Minnesota and is very active with the Range Mental Health Center. Additionally, Jim is the Chairman and CEO of Mesabi Radial Tire, a mining supply and services business which was founded by Jim’s father, Carl D’Aquila, in 1953. Jim and his wife Bonnie have two daughters and two Brittany Spaniels and they split their time between residences in St. Paul and Grand Rapids, Minnesota. Jim is a pilot, enjoys photography and is a hiker and cyclist.
