

Senior Vice President, Grand Rapids State Bank
Ed Zabinski is a senior vice president for Grand Rapids State Bank in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. His responsibilities include human resources management, marketing and information technology. Ed is the president and co-founder of MotherLode North America, a Grand Rapids-based e-commerce and software company that began operations in 2001. He also started a consulting practice specializing in organizational development facilitation, human resource management and public affairs counseling. Prior experience includes 20 years as an executive of Grand Rapids-based Blandin Paper Company with responsibility for public affairs, communications, human resources, and organizational development functions. Ed is a member of the board of Grand Rapids State Bank, serves as a trustee of the Northland Foundation and is a member of the Northspan Group board of directors. Community activities include city council, and volunteering with the Itasca County Family YMCA, Itasca Economic Development Corporation, United Way, Friends of the Forest History Center, Deer River Hired Hands, Junior Achievement, St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
Ed earned an Associate of Arts Degree from Vermillion Community College in Ely, MN; a Bachelor of Arts Degree in government from St. John’s University in Collegeville, MN; and a Master of Arts in Public Affairs from the Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. Ed and his wife, Mary Pat, have four children and one grandchild. Ed’s hobbies include canoeing and camping in the BWCA/Quetico, handball, racquetball, bridge, biking, and other outdoor activities in northern Minnesota.
